Network Control, headquartered in Waverly, Iowa was a pioneer in the delivery of solutions for Telecom Expense Management (TEM). With a 20-year track record and field offices in the Midwest and on the West Coast, the company provides services that span the entire communications lifecycle, including: contract evaluation, preparation and negotiation, bill auditing and dispute resolution, expense management, employee provisioning, inventory and asset management, policy review and development.
Business Challenge
In 2013, it was determined by the CEO that product development performed by external contractors and full-time developers was not leveraging cutting technology and methodologies. Also employee attrition in the development area was not only hurting the company’s bottom line, but was detrimental to project development schedules and budgets.
Project Overview
A decision was made to seek an external vendor to take complete ownership of product development and maintenance of its TemNET® product and its associated web applications. The key requirements were the ability to efficiently adopt and plug new technologies into TemNet® when needed.
Prior to coming on board at Network Control, CEO Mark Hearn had worked extensively with Innovare Technologies on a successful multi-year project that helped inform his decision to consider Innovare for the TemNet® development contract. That experience, along with Innovare’s depth of expertise in ASP .NET, MVC, SQL Server, and AJAX, project and communications management, and a reputation for quality, cost-effective software product development solutions, made the decision to go with Innovare a natural one.
Project Outcomes and Looking Forward
Since August of 2013, Innovare Technologies has been retained to enhance and maintain TemNET®. An on-site coordinator from the Innovare San Jose, CA location and a team of three offshore developers keep the Network Control product in a leadership position in the TEM marketplace.
